Building on the 2024 International Day of the Girl, this webinar will explore girls’ visions for supportive menstrual environments in schools. Based on research from MIET Africa with support from UNICEF, we’ll delve into the importance of product choice and how education can empower girls to make informed decisions about menstrual care. Discover innovative solutions proposed by young women themselves for managing menstrual waste. Additionally, we’ll discuss the Menstrual Health Guidelines developed by South Africa’s Department of Basic Education to create more supportive menstrual environments in schools. MIET AFRICA joins the DBE and global menstrual health advocacy group, Days for Girls to co-host this event on Advancing Menstrual Health in South African Schools’ to advocate to break barriers to education by promoting menstrual health management, ensuring access to resources, and fostering supportive learning environments for girls.
