MIET AFRICA is a trusted, regional not-for-profit organization whose mission since 1996 is to improve the lives of children and youth-both in and out of school-across Southern Africa. To date, we have contributed to the education and health of over 60 million children and youth.

MIET AFRICA adopts a holistic approach to child and youth development, bringing together education and health – two critical elements for human capital development. Our programmes are guided by the evidence-based Care and Support for Teaching and Learning (CSTL) Framework, developed by MIET AFRICA and adopted in 2016 by all SADC Member States as their official guide to providing safe, inclusive and supportive learning environments.

Education for All: We believe that all children have unlimited potential. With education anything is possible. We support and contribute to systemic change in the education sector, from ECD to post-school, so that every child is able to thrive. We partner with education ministries to ensure our efforts align with national priorities towards improving education outcomes.
21st Century Education: We identify and support vulnerable and at-risk learners, including those with disabilities, so they can access quality education; prepare young people with 21st century skills and career development tools for the workplace, including entrepreneurship.
Holistic Health: We increase knowledge, awareness and access to a comprehensive range of health services including HIV and sexual and reproductive health; early and unintended pregnancy; mental health; menstrual health management; nutrition.
Safety & Protection: We tackle gender-based violence and other forms of abuse (bullying), and trafficking, through awareness, education, and community support.
