The Government’s National Development Plan 2030 has identified improving the quality of education” as one of its high priority areas. As an “add-value” to its CSTL MDE Programme, and with funding from the Anglo American Chairman’s Fund, in 2017 MIET AFRICA is implementing a Maths intervention for the Intermediate Phase. Key activities include the development and testing of a draft curriculum differentiation for Intermediate Phase teachers (and with a specific focus on teaching Maths), as well as the promotion of the establishment of PLCs (Professional Learning Communities). The content knowledge and curriculum understanding of IP teachers in Maths will be developed, so that the achievement of all learners in 50 Mpumalanga primary schools is improved.
